‘Dexter’ season 7: Showtime exec praises new storyline
Posted on 4th August 2012, By Mel & Filed Under Dexter, News with No Comments

While it is certainly the job of a network executive to hype up the content that is coming up on your show, that doesn’t mean that he has to be enthusiastic about it. Based on what Showtime head David Nevins is saying about the upcoming season of “Dexter,” though, it looks like we are going to have plenty to be excited about.

Speaking in a brand-new interview with TheWrap on the subject of Michael C. Hall earning yet another Emmy nomination for his role as the title character, Nevins raved about the story that is going to lead off with how Deb reacts to the news that Dexter killed Travis Marshall:

“The great thing was that Michael C. Hall still gets nominated among the six best actors on television. … The upcoming season the show is I think completely revitalized. I expect it’s going to rock some people when it comes out in the fall. The next two seasons of ‘Dexter,’ it’s on a pretty ferocious path.”

We already know at least about some of the twists that are coming up this season — LaGuerta is going to try and re-open the Bay Harbor Butcher case based on some new evidence, Dexter is going to be assisted by a mysterious woman named Hannah McKay (Yvonne Strahovski), and there is also going to be a killing inside of a gentleman’s club that leads to an intensive investigation. Jason Gedrick and Ray Stevenson are two of the notable guest stars who are going to be appearing as a result.

Do Nevins’ words make you more excited about season 7, or is part of you hesitant at this point based on all of the hype that surrounded what was at the end of the day a disappointing season 6? If you want to hear some more comments from Strahovski about her role, be sure to check out the story over here.

Two New Dexter Promos: Are They Sexy or Sinister?
Posted on 12th July 2012, By Mel & Filed Under Dexter, News, Video Archive with No Comments

Double the Dexter, double the drama. Showtime has released two new promos for the upcoming seventh season.

Both trailers feature Deb and Dexter, writhing around under black sheets — in separate beds, thankfully.

As Dexter considers Deb’s reaction to discovering his Dark Passenger, the siblings’ suggestive movements remind viewers of the other big plot twist last season — will Deb continue to have romantic feelings toward her brother now that she knows the truth?

Or even more troubling, will Dexter even allow her to live that long?

“The only thing worse than not knowing what she’ll do is not knowing what I’ll do,” Dexter muses.

This 15-Second ‘Dexter’ Season 7 Trailer Is All You Need To See
Posted on 12th July 2012, By Mel & Filed Under Dexter, News with No Comments

Deb (Jennifer Carpenter) and brother Dexter (Michael C. Hall) were caught in quite the sticky situation when sis stumbled upon her murderin’ sibling just doin’ his usual murderin’. The bad news is that Dexter‘s seventh season premiere will pick up immediately where that fateful sixth year finale left off, so our buddy Dex isn’t getting out of this one without finally facing at least a few of his monstrous demons. But the good news is that–at least in the brand new trailer below–the show will eventually go beyond Dex and Deb’s discovery and onto other mysteries (for instance, WHAT THE HELL, LOUIS?!). So there is life after death… too bad you only get a nine-second look at what that’s like. Freeze frame it all you want:

[TV] Dexter Executive Producer Reveals How Deb Will React To Dexter’s Secret (SPOILERS)
Posted on 12th July 2012, By Mel & Filed Under Dexter, News with No Comments

Lots of info about season seven…

Dexter executive producer Sara Colleton spoke with TV Guide about the seventh season of the show, and what Deb’s (Jennifer Carpenter) reaction will be to finding out that Dexter (Michael C. Hall) is a killer.

The last moments of season six saw Dexter killing the Doomsday Killer, Travis (Colin Hanks) and being caught by his sister. She had been planning to tell him that she loves him when she saw what happened. In the following season, there will also be evidence that the Bay Harbor Butcher is back, which Dexter framed Doakes (Erik King) for.

Here are highlights from the interview:

On Deb’s reaction to finding out about Dexter: “It rocks her world so there are a few classic Deb-isms. If the series-long quest for Dexter was to finally have someone who really knows him — well, be careful what you wish for because Deb now knows everything and that’s a game-changer.”

On what this season is about: “It is about things he’s never experienced before, which are regret, responsibility, shame, betrayal, all of those things. Also, it’s the flip side of wanting to be known, and then once you are known, there’s a loss of freedom. It comes with heavy responsibility, so he’s dealing with a lot of emotions that he’s never had before, and never been allowed to feel before or allowed himself to feel before.”

On if Deb will learn everything after only seeing him kill Travis: “Yeah. Obviously this whole season we’re going to have great fun playing with every permutation that can be played between Debra and Dexter in their relationship now that this information has come out. She was on her way to the church at the end of the last season because she had come to realize that she not only loved her foster brother Dexter but she is in love with him. So now what does she do? Does she turn him into the police? Is she repulsed by him? Can she continue to love him? Does she feel an odd relief that finally she understands some fundamental part of him that always felt elusive? Dexter was always elusive and Debra always thought it was because of her, and now she knows it wasn’t about her, it was about him really protecting her. But she is the head of the homicide division and so it has to really affect her sense of justice and the whole system. It’s a really challenging year for her to juggle. And Dexter, of course, his world is equally rocked. He’s never had to deal with these kinds of emotions — regret, guilt, a sense of having let Deb down and also, obviously, the gnawing suspicion that at any time, she could have him arrested.”

On what other obstacles Dexter will face: “There are other complications that will come in because, at the crime scene, Dexter’s blood slide gets found by Lieutenant LaGuerta (Lauren Velez) because he loses it in the chaos that ensues and she immediately recognizes it’s his. The only other time that she had seen this blood slide was in the copy case of the Bay Harbor Butcher. Her dear friend Sergeant Doakes, everyone thought he was the Bay Harbor Butcher, and thought that when he died, the Bay Harbor Butcher died with him. Now, she begins to suspect, “Is the Bay Harbor Butcher still alive and how can I set about proving the innocence of my friend Sergeant Doakes?” That is something that’s a silent thing at the start, but it’s, again, going to be eventually working its way back to Dexter. It’s going to be very interesting to see if she can exonerate him.”

On if season eight will definitely be the end: “This was definite. We wanted to end it this year, but the network convinced us that it would be best to do it in two years. In some ways, this is a two-season series-ender. We have worked that out and know where it’s going to end. Next year will definitely be the last year of Dexter. Absolutely.”

Dexter will return on September 30 at 9/8c on Showtime.
