Michael C. Hall “Fully Recovered” From Cancer
Posted on 29th April 2010, By Gel & Filed Under News with No Comments

It looks like Michael C. Hall has defeated his biggest bad guy yet: cancer.

The 38-year-old Dexter star has “fully recovered” from Hodgkin’s lymphoma, according to wife and show costar Jennifer Carpenter.

Hall announced he was battling the illness in January, shortly before his Golden Globes win for best actor in a TV drama series, describing his condition as “eminently treatable and curable.”

Last month, Hall reiterated as much, telling an audience at the TV show-honoring PaleyFest that he was preparing for his final treatment and was “great on the health front.”

Hall is set to return to work in June, when the show begins production on its fifth season.

Dexter Spoilers: Michael C. Hall Overcomes His Own Dark Passenger
Posted on 21st April 2010, By Gel & Filed Under Dexter with No Comments

Good news, code-subscribing serial killer fans!  Michael C. Hall is back at work, although not Dexter just yet.  Hall is currently shooting the dramedy East Fifth Bliss and sporting a $10,000 wig, while waiting for his hair to grow back after beating Hodgkins Lymphoma.  Hall will return to the set of Dexter in June and the spoilers are starting to spill in regarding what we can expect in terms of a follow-up to last season’s amazingly dark finish.  For those of you not afraid to examine the season six’s bloodwork, read on!

  • What will become of the newly orphaned Cody and Astor?  Executive producer Sara Colleton said their Rita post-mortem plight will be examined closely next season.  “Cody and Astor are somewhat insulated from Dexter’s world, but it is something that is going to haunt Dexter…that’s a very provocative issue that we are going to explore,” said Colleton at last month’s Paley Fest. (Spoiler TV
  • Tired of the LaGuerta/Batista not-so-PDA?  Don’t worry, Lauren Valez thinks it’s over.  “[LaGuerta] is in love and she married him, but she’s never done this…Personally, I think she’s going to head for the hills. She’s worked so hard to obtain this position, but now it’s the battle: Do I hand this in for this guy, or do I hold on to everything I fought for?” says Valez. (TV Guide)
  • She’s gotten close before, so will Deb finally find out what’s up with Dexter’s nocturnal activities?  Executive producer Sara Colleton says not just yet.  “For right now, it’s run its course, we have to create a little bit of a safe haven before we pull the rug out on the poor boy.” (TV Guide)

3/8

  • Who will Dexter face?  Dexter himself.  Not that you could follow Lithgow’s Trinity, but the show’s creative team isn’t even going to try – and that’s a good thing.  Where Dexter has slowly mastered domestic life, now he will find himself as sole care-giver to three children.  Let’s see how the dark passenger handles all of that. (EW)
  • Dexter‘s story will pick up where season four left off and follow the dramatic leads left by Rita’s death.  So we will see Dexter planning and attending Rita’s funeral.  Will we see Julie Benz as a corpse? Heck, Harry appears in every episode – don’t rule out a visit from Rita. (EW)

Dexter will not be courting a replacement Rita.  That makes sense given the timeline but it is reassuring to know that the producers aren’t in a big hurry to have Dexter rebuild his life.  Instead, expect Dexter to spend a lot of time emoting over the fragments left behind. (EW)

‘Dexter’ star Michael C. Hall ‘ready to go’ for season five
Posted on 5th April 2010, By Gel & Filed Under Dexter, News with No Comments

One of the stars of Showtime’s hit crime drama Dexter says lead actor Michael C. Hall is healthy and “ready to go” for the show’s fifth season.

David Zayas, who plays Angel Batista on the series, told the good news to On the Red Carpet’s Chris Balish Thursday night in Hollywood.

When Balish asked, “How is his health right now?”  Zayas replied, “He’s excellent.  He’s in remission and he’s ready to go in June. Michael is just a trooper and he’s a great actor and I’m so glad that he’s okay now. And he stays healthy.”Earlier this year a spokesman for Michael C. Hall confirmed he was undergoing treatment Hodgkin’s lymphoma and that the cancer is in remission.

The fifth season of Dexter is scheduled to return on Showtime in September.

The 10 Greatest Anti-Heroes: #3 Dexter Morgan
Posted on 23rd March 2010, By Gel & Filed Under Dexter, News with No Comments

TV Show: Dexter
Actor: Michael C. Hall

Sometimes, an anti-hero’s most obvious flaw is an abrasive personality. But Dexter Morgan couldn’t be sweeter to his wife, kids and co-workers; the Miami Police blood spatter expert just has a nasty habit of serial-killing. His code of only taking the lives of fellow murderers might appeal to our most primal sense of justice, but making the world a safer place is just a by-product; he kills because he likes it. It’s his slow march towards something that looks like redemption instead that has kept us rapt through four seasons. Dexter is broken, and thankfully, the show never pretends that he’s the hero. Every time we get lulled into pulling for the killer, we catch a glimpse of the darkness in our own hearts. We see that every nice guy has a dark side, and that even serial killers aren’t devoid of humanity.

AfterElton.com’s Top 50 Gay Characters of All Time!
Posted on 16th March 2010, By Gel & Filed Under News with No Comments

Michael’s Six Feet Under character, David Fisher, came in at number 10 in this year’s AfterElton’s top 50 Gay Characters.

Talk about guys we all know! As David Fisher, the repressed gay undertaker at the center of Alan Ball’s landmark series Six Feet Under, actor Michael C. Hall created a character that made us all nod in recognition. But the most interesting part of the character wasn’t where he started – it was where he ended up, and the journey he made getting there. The things he experienced, both alone and later with his partner Keith, made David easily among the most realistic, complicated, and satisfying gay television characters ever.

What’s Next for Dexter? The Cast and Creators Tell You
Posted on 6th March 2010, By & Filed Under Dexter, News with No Comments

Is it September yet?

With six months standing between now and the season five premiere of Dexter, I tried to pry some serious scoop out of Michael C. Hall, Julie Benz, Jennifer Carpenter and the rest of the gang—begging didn’t work and neither did bribing! And while they were tight-lipped, I did manage to learn a thing or two about what’s to come while moderating the show panel at Paley Fest Thursday night.

We also learned how Michael’s health is now, and watched him and his real-life wife, Jennifer, answer a question about their marriage for the first time…

Spoiler Alert! If you still haven’t seen the Dexter season four finale, please look no further. All of what you’ll see after the jump will definitely ruin it for you.

Here are the highlights you Dexter fans need to know:

Michael heads for the Chateau
Posted on 19th February 2010, By Aniek & Filed Under Candids with No Comments

Michael C. Hall is looking better each time we see him. Photographers caught a glimpse of the Golden Globe winner as he strolled through Sunset Avenue and visited Hollywood hot spot Chateau Marmont today.

After announcing he was free of Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in mid January, we have progressively seen Michael getting healthier. In these shots you can see a bit of his sideburns growing in and a little five o’clock shadow coming in.

With the Showtime drama kicking butt at awards shows and in the ratings department, fans won’t have to wait too long for another season. It returns with season five in September.
